Privacy Policy for Menstrudel

Last Updated: 26/01/2026

Local Storage Only

Menstrudel is an open-source application that prioritises your privacy. We do not collect or transmit any personal data to external servers or third parties.

All logs are stored locally on your device only. This data includes:

  • Menstrual cycles and symptoms logged
  • Pill log data and pack configurations
  • Reversible contraception logs
  • Sexual activity logs
  • Sanitary product logs
  • Reminder settings
  • App Settings

Data Management: You are in full control. You can delete all logs at any time within the app settings. Data may be included in your device's standard cloud backups (e.g., iCloud or Google Drive) unless disabled in your phone settings.

Biometric Security

The app includes an optional Biometrics feature (fingerprint or face recognition). This uses your device's built-in operating system security. Menstrudel does not collect, store, or access your biometric data; the app only receives a confirmation signal from your device that the check was successful.

Permissions

Menstrudel requires the following optional permissions to enable features you activate:

  • Notifications: Used for period, tampon, and pill reminders.
  • Biometrics: Used for local app access security.
  • Storage Access: Required only when you choose to use the Export or Import data functions.

You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device's system settings.

Medical Disclaimer: Menstrudel is a tracking tool for informational purposes only. It is not a medical device and must not be used for contraception or to prevent pregnancy.

Data Loss: Because all data is stored locally, we cannot recover your logs if your device is lost or the app is deleted. You are responsible for your own data backups.

Open Source Transparency

This application is open source. You can review the source code to verify our privacy claims and see how your data is handled on GitHub.
